Using a lens protector on your hood will greatly extend it's life but I add one more trick to help it last longer.

The lens protector has a sticky strip at each end that holds the protector to the lens but I've found that overspray can still get behind the protector and get on the lens so I apply masking tape all around the protector to seal it to the lens. The hood is a great mask when you have a beard or wear glasses and protecting the lens will make the hood last a lot longer.

Thanks for the tip Len, I will mask mine up before next spray.

I have used saran wrap over my more expensive hood lens for years. It also can be used to cover your
air gauge lens if it is polycarb.

Have you used your hood again?

Yup, and I love it. I did tape the protective lens up like Len recommended and I have not doubt it helps preserve the permanent part of the lens under the protective (changeable) lens.
