When I spray I change the direction of the pattern from time to time on almost every job. I spray the conventional way, with the pattern in the vertical position then I'll spray up and down and I'll need to change the pattern to the horizontal position so I rotate the air cap to accomplish this. On most spray guns the collar that holds the fluid tip tight must be loosened to accomplish this change, this means that you've got to hold the gun in one hand then loosen the collar, turn the air cap then hold the cap in the new position while tightening the cap. With the Iwata the air cap floats on a Teflon seal and can be easily rotated while the cap is still tight making it unnecessary to go through any contortions while painting.

Another thing I like about the Iwatas
The larger guns are SOOO easy to clean compared to other more complicated spray guns. There is only one valve actuator that is attached to the trigger, you know, on other guns they have two rods that the trigger moves, not the new Iwatas, they only have one making it easier to clean the outside. Inside there are no gaskets, everything is fitted so that it seals when the 4 parts (cap, tip, needle and cup) are assembled. When I'm done spraying I always disassemble my equipment and clean it but not because I like doing it but the Iwata guns make it a breeze to accomplish.

One more thing I like about the Iwatas
I've been spraying paint for over thirty years now and I find that most spray guns, except for some radical guns, feel about the same in your hand. That is, until I used the W-400 and the LPH-400. These guns are extremely comfortable to spray paint with because of their slender design. When the trigger is pulled it's almost like you're making a fist with nothing in it. In my evaluation of these guns I managed to paint, among other things, one bus and one large truck and had a good chance to feel the benefit of the ergonomic design of this equipment.
It's great.
If Sata is the Mercedes of spray guns then Iwata is the Lexus
