    Default Painting Season is Approaching

I guess you can tell we go through a lot of mixing cups in our shop. I may have posted this before but I thought it's worth mentioning again.

No matter what size cups we are using (pints, quarts or 2.5 quart cups) we almost always look at the mixing ratio of the paint products we're using, compute how much we'll need then mark the cup with a Sharpie before we start mixing. It's real easy to screw up a mixture if the cup isn't marked.

As the picture shows, it only take a few seconds to mark the cup but it could save you the $$$ that a small but easy mistake could cost. If the cup is not marked it's very easy to pour paint using the wrong scale or up to the incorrect mark.

I feel vindicated now!! I have said to myself many times before you need to mark the correct scale before you mix primer but I never do it and I have poured on the wrong scale...So in the future I am going to always mark the correct scale, if the pros see the need to do it then I will do it also .Mike

That's right Mike, there are a lot of variables to consider in the hours and minutes approaching paint application and this helps eliminate one of them. It's easy to pour to the wrong line when you're mixing, venting, blowing, tacking etc. etc.

I can't tell you how many times I screwed the pooch on this one. If it's marked ahead of time it becomes a no-brainer.

No, they come in different sizes and you can mix different amounts in each size. If you have a pint cup you could mix a couple ounces up to a pint and it's the same with quarts or 2.5 quart cups.
