Default yeah i think i screwed up

Last night i painted my buddies car roof. I wet sanded it with 800 grit and then used end dust spray to clean it off. I bought a quart of dupli color ready to spray black paint and a quart of the clear.I sprayed 3 coats of black and let it sit for 45 minutes before i sprayed clear on it.It felt rough to the touch so i just figured maybe the clear coat would fix it so i sprayed 2 coats of clear then sprayed 1 heavy coat.It was 5 a.m then i went to sleep, woke up,then went down to take a look. it was still rough so i figured ahh then ill wet sand it and it will be all better. So its 10:00 am now and i begin to wet sand with 1000 grit. wet sanded 3 times, and it still looked like a orange peel so i just said thats enough thats as good as im going to get so i began to polish it.I used diamond cut polish. buffed it all then wiped it off with a microfiber cloth, and every where i sanded is dull. The polish didnt really seem do do anything so seeing its my first time i know i probally screwed up somewhere with what i did.Any ideas of what i did or how i can fix it?

Oh my, what a fiasco. End dust? You're kidding right?..... Really?

Use a decent "solvent cleaner" which is a grease and wax remover with a solvent base to clean the surface. Spray on the solvent the absorb it off with paper towels. Spray it with a "good" paint and gun then sand with 1500 and polish with a decent compound and buffer.

If you use poor prep, poor paint, poor tools and poor polishing techniques you'll end up with a poor result.

You may want to check out the Spray Painting 101 Video before you're next project.

You used furniture polish to pre-clean the area? Most furniture polishes like end- dust acheive the shine on wood by using wax and silicone ..wax and silicone are MAJOR enemys to your ready to spray panel ..when you are doing your cleaning before painting you are trying to ensure no oils wax or silicone is on the panel before you spray your finish.. You are applying the very thing you should be trying diligently to remove.Mike

My buddy dwight who is on here alot. His name here is Beady. He told me about it and said that he read a post from Henry saying thats what he used.It didnt make the paint fish eye or anything when i sprayed it but i guess ill have to wait and find out how it comes out in the end.But he painted his camero over a year ago and used end dust prep, and it still looks great. But I am going to buy spray painting 101 for sure.
