    Default Fresh Air System

have searched and there does not appear to be a consistent opinion - so i will ask again to see if there is more consensus out there - if you were to buy a new fresh air system what brand/model would you buy?

One of the hobby air units that Len sells?

One of the SAS units that Len sells?

    Other?

    thanks!! ed

I bought an SAS full face system. I really like it, except the cheap pvc hose that comes with it is junk. I called SAS and asked them about it. The guy told me it would break in, i have never seen a pvc hose break in. So i asked if they offer a better hose and he tells me no. Then he tells me to put it out in the sun for a couple hours before i use it. It is 20 degrees outside that should do the trick. I ended up getting a Willson nitrile hose and changing the ends of it to fit my system. Sata also offers a non gassing hose at a better price i discovered after i got this one. So if you get an SAS system plan on investing in a more flexable hose.

    Default SAS works well

We have the SAS 2 hose system at work -- it works well. We have all 3 types of masks -- hood, full face, and half mask. I prefer the half mask for topcoat painting because I can see better. I use the hood for primer work or non- critical painting. I don't really care for the full face mask because it is really bulky and uncomfortable.

Do you wear anything to protect your eyes or are you in a good down draft booth?

I bought the hobby air 2 and I love it. I just finished staining the cabinets in the kitchen. I put the first coat down without fresh air and got sick. The second coat I did with the hobby air. I ordered the hood and a half mask. The hood is pretty wasy to see out of and the half mask worked great too. I'm glad I bought the system.
