Is lacquer thinner made from crude oil?

You'd think so, the way the price has gone up. I was buying the Wal-Mart, primer grade thinner for clean-up. During the last year it has gone from $6.47 to $11.39 a gallon. Other places have all gone up, too.

Yes, it's a petroleum product.

The last time I bought any, I paid about $25 or $30 for a 5 gallon drum at the paint store. It's definately cheaper there than at Wally World.

Yeah, I think I might hit Spring Carlisle this year. There used to be vendors that had it in 5 gal cans there, too. I hate to think about going there, but I also need some cans of R-12, so I can kill 2 birds with one stone.

Wally world will charge just as much as it can "get away with" on everything in the store. After screwing their suppliers, which is well documented and screwing their employees, which is also well documented, the only people left are their customers who have bought into their "always the lowest price" bilge. It's the perfect trifecta.

Now back to the pricing of lacquer thinner..... It's up. Everything's up.....

Wally world isn't any different than paint manufatures in my book. Anybody notice the cost of paint goes up each year.

I like wally world myself buy there all the time. I'm no better than anybody else in business as I raise my prices whenever I can also. America what a country. Mooch

The Walmart thing is an interesting phenomena. The people that should be boycotting them are their best customers. They pay their employees dick and will close their stores in an area before they would ever let a union in, yet it is these lower income people that shop their, believing the propeganda about lowest price. Apparently their lowest price only really applies to their low end products. Most people upsell themselves once in the store and if you were to compare the prices of the medium to better quality merchandise, they are no cheaper.

No company that gets as big and powerful as Walmart is good for the economy. When a retailer tells their suppliers what they are going to pay for product, well, that's just not healthy.

Also, if you shop at Walmart, better not complain about the jobs being lost to overseas manufacturers. Walmarts the one putting them on the map.

Haven't shopped their in years and don't intend to. Love my North American lifestyle too much to support them.
