Unhappy How to dull down paint.

HI, i painted the inner wheelwells on my 65 Lemans project yesterday. I tried flattening agent is SS Concept Black. I went with it over laquer for durability reasons. Anyway, It came out way to shiny . What would be the best way to knock it down a little? I thought maybe I could sand it but being black will I have trouble with the scratches? Thanks, Murf

You could scuff it with a red or gray scuff pad then apply a couple coats of Zero Rust. The ZR will bite onto the surface well and can be easily repaired if it gets damaged.

Default Did you shake your flattner well before you poured it?

Flattners have a tendency to precipitate to the bottom of the can real fast. Both the flatner and the flattened paint must be shaked very throughly before every pour in order to keep an even sheen...

Sand and recoat is the only good way of doing this...
    My 2 cents worth...

What Serge said. This is why I keep mine in a squirt "ketchup" bottle. They're like 1.50 at paint supply stores. Make sure you keep the cap on them.

Well, I've been thinking about this and I think maybe I'm a dumb butt. I'll have to talk to the paint guy tomorrow to be sure. I thought he put some flattener in the paint and then sent some home with me also, in case it wasn't flat enough. I now think I was to mix it and there was none in the paint. I don't have enough black to spray again today.
What would you guys think of me using DX685 flattner mixed with 2002 clear to try and tone it down? I already have the clear and hardener, all I would have to buy is the DX685. Please let me know what you think, as I will go to the paint store Monday.

    Thanks for all the help!
