been watching this site for a long while now and I think im ready to do this. I have a question before I start. I am using valspar dtm 2000 primer. I have all my panels to bare steel. I cleaned the panels very well before I started and used 80 grit and paint stripper along the way. I kept very clean with wax- grease remover while I worked on them. Before I prime is it necessary to wash panels again with soap and water- then heat air dry, or is wax, grease remover good enough? I did not pixlex because I guess valspar primers have an allerigic reaction. Panels have been indoors and are dry. Could someone please tell me the process they would proceed from this point as far as the stages i should procede

As long as you have clean bare metal that has a little tooth to it you can lay your primer right on top. I don't like using water on bare metal because it rusts immediately so just clean and scuff it then prime. Apply your primer WET so that it bonds well with the surface but not so wet that it runs.

Tomato, most paint strippers require that the panels be washed with clean water to neutralize the paint stripper residue. Check the directions on the back of your stripper container to see what they recommend.

Fine steel wool and laquer thinner followed by a wipe with a clean cloth completely dissolves and completly removes stripper residue without having to use water follow that with wax and grease remover and a wipe down with a clean cloth and your ready besides at this point any stripper residue is solidified and water wont do anything as far as residue removal, but cause rust,Mike
