320 dry paper is ok but it's a little coarse. I would probably go with 400 grit but if you already have the 320 then go with it. I would not recommend 320 wet sandpaper because it's too coarse.
Len what type of single stage should i go with, i do not have a lot of money . The car is pretty much for the track but if i do drive it on the street i want it to look decent
When we are doing an overall job that doesn't need to match anything perfectly but I want a decent job I'll usually use U-Tech paint. They have decent quality that isn't too expensive. U-Tech is usually available from your Sikkens supplier.Originally Posted by kschmidt
Try www.paintforcars.com I havent tried it myself but ive seen some pics on this forum from a guy who used it but i dont know how well it holds up, looks like it sprays well though
a surface for paint only to get something that won't last or doesn't lay down right. I kind of think you are getting what you pay for, and it might not be very good...
We've gotten some bad feed back from that "paintforcars" materials. I heard delivery was slow and the materials that were used were not good.Originally Posted by RyanBayles
On the u tech paint do i us a clear after i shoot it and can i wet sand it after it's done? Is it an acryic enamel, acrylic lacqure or acrylic urethane
I would hope this is a solid color so you can spray a decent gloss. Regardless, Nason SS Urethane would cost you under $120 for a gallon of paint and activator. You would buy the reducer. It's pretty good stuff and can be sanded and buffed. The SOLID colors sand and buff better than the metallics because you have to be careful you don't but through the metallic layer.Originally Posted by kschmidt
What color is it and who sells Dupont products near you? Henry
Henry i'm spraying it black would a gallon of paint cover a mustang and would i still clear it or is the gloss allready in the paint
If you purchase "single stage" paint clear is NOT used. If you purchase "base coat" black you will need to spray clear on top.Originally Posted by kschmidt
As Len said, clear is in the SS URETHANE but not bc/cc. And yes, I believe the gallon is plenty for the Mustang.Originally Posted by kschmidt
Make sure you understand the difference between Acrylic Enamel (AE) and SS URETHANE, however. Henry
