Brake booster paint?

I'm wanting to restore a brake booster with the classic gold/zinc finish. Do they make a paint for this or is it a special process? Thanks

I talked to the owner Greg a year or so ago and had a nice conversation with him about my parts and any prep work I could do to make them the best they could be and while there are probably other companies that do that type of work, I'm sending my work his way. Seems like a good company.

I haven't done this, but a company called Caswell out of New York sells do it yourself plating kits. They have everything from that gold booster finish to powder coating kits.

Their site is here: http://www.caswellplating.com. It looks like their kits are around $130, so depending on how many parts you can do with it or how comfortable you are taking the chance on a DIY, it might be cheaper to send it to a plating shop.

I would send it off if you want it to look correct. Eastwood makes some zinc look paints, but you can't duplicate zinc dichromate from a can. Keep in mind that any pitting will be very obvious after plating so find a nice core or sand your smooth.
