Is this a vehicle manufacturers stock color or is it a custom color manufacturered by a paint company? If it's a vehicle manufacturer's color what is the year and vehicle?

It sounds to me like you're looking for paint materials to do realistic looking custom flames. Auto Air makes the best kits I've seen. Try this URL then look for "realistic flames".

    Default realistic flames

I've seen Mickey use his hell fire stencil kit for doing realistic flames, and it is awesome. He doesn't use them personally for his own flames but he does incourage someone thats never done it to use the hell fire hit. I've have been to several of Mickeys classes and they are awesome. You feel like you can paint anything when you leave. Another nice and refreshing thing about Mickey is that he is so humble. The man is there to help everyone and not to be high and mighty like some other famous artist out there.

You can get them from Eastwood. I've got mine, but haven't given it a shot yet.

You can use chrome yellow, molly orange and basic white(put a bit of yellow in the white to tone it down). Then use Matrix FX colors. They have Devils Gold,Necterine and Kandy red. This is alot cheaper than HOK and you can buy 1/4 ounces of the Kandys, which will go far. I buy the concentrate straight and mix 20 percent with 500 blender the reduce it 100 percent. Works great.

Here is a folder with alot of true fire pics in it. All done with Matrix.

Ive used PPG and X-otic because thats what my jobber sells. THe receipe is pretty much up to you. Besides the tru fire Ive done some blue fire and yellow fire on a red basecoat, true fire on anything other than black or very dark colors, kind of lose something in my opinion. The blue fire Ive done on both black and white base coats. Its just a matter of experimenting. JUst go like Mike L reccommends work from dark to light, loose to tight with your patterns. For my blue I started with white and coated with candy cobalt, candy oriental and also used some pearls in the mix, finishing off my highlights with white pearl. Ive seen green fire and even pink fire. As for stencils you can easily make your own by cutting them out of photo paper or stencil material available form WalMart (its solvent proof too, and cheap.) Good luck. AL
