What is the best way to mark off a car for graphics

I am applying stripes to the car this week hopefully and wanted to ask those here what is the best way to mark off the car to apply lemans stripes and side stripes to a car.

Blue fineline tape

OK. I have that tape but the way the directions goes, I have to find the center of the car and place a distance of 1 inch on either side for the middle/medial side of the tape to creat a 2" gap in the middle. The outside edges change to create an optical ellusion. From front to back: 9 1/4 at the front of the hood 10 1/2 at the back, front of the roof 10 1/2 to 10 3/8 at the back to 10" on the trunk.

I guess you just tear off a piece to mark the center for each section? Or someone have a better idea?

Using small pieces of tape is probably the easiest. You can use unadulterated chalkboard chalk, but you have to avoid any "dustless" or "squeak free" varieties as they have waxes in them. Stabilo also makes a water soluble variety of colored pencil called Stabilo "All", and the markings easily wash off with water. I've never had any adverse paint reactions after marking a surface with them.

Stabilo is the way to go but last resort would be fineline tape
just make sure you know what edge of the tape you are measureing to.
When doing SS stripes i just use tape to mark my center then measure
out and start laying out my outlines.
your lucky you only have to do Lemans stripes i have to do
Buick GSX stripes which includes the hood,sides and rear spoiler
