Hello
I am changing the body mounts in 1970 nova and am into trouble already, my plan is to jack one side up at a time by body loosen all hardware and change, problems very badly deteriated and not even sure which of the the new bushings go where, smaller one for up front but other two???
please help

I think your talking about the subframe mounts. I have changed them before by loosening the two in the front and replacing then loosen the rear two and replace. Two are under the radiator support the other two are under or just ahead of the front seats where the subframe ends. I think the smaller ones are in the front and the larger ones in the rear. Compare the steel cups when you remove the worn rubbers.

thanks for replying, looking for more info
Yes you are correct it is a sub-frame and yes the small ones go in the front, under the rad. now there are two larger ones but one is thicker than the other, I cant find any info on which one goes where, do you know if the thicker one goes under the firewall or under the seat? Also I removed one mount just under the fire wall, rusted bad, I was able to break the bolt and pound it up through but the most rear ones under the seat, I will not be so lucky, because they have a caged nut and if I break it off I will have to come down through the floor for access. Any advice will go a long way.
thanks,

Can you spray and let some PB Blaster, available at WalMart, soak on the bolts and nuts for awhile? I have had great luck with using it on brake line fittings. As far as where the thick one goes, I will have to check. Or you could post your question here

The thicker bushings go below the firewall area, the thinner ones at the rear of the subframe and the smaller diameter ones will go under the core support.

thank you very much bob and blaze9t8
Blaze I signed up on the nova site and am waiting to be allowed to post by the administrater and it looks like a good site.
Bob thanks for the info on the placement of the bushings
Any other advice or detail that will make it easier for me this weekend, on removal of the old rusted bushings would be highly appreciated. I had sprayed the old ones with liquid wrench and other penetrating oils, it is fused together for sure. the front ones will be tough but I will manage through, the back ones under the seat will be tough. my plan is to lossen the front up change the front ones and move back changing one side at a time.
thanks,
