I have some real rookie questions. I plan to use a bc/cc system for several 914's I'm working on but am curious what would be the best system for the under carriage, engine compartments, trunks, floor pan, etc. Do you use the same base/cc process or a single stage for areas not normally seen?

Epoxy based primer. You can also use shock absorbing wax for underbody and wheel wells. First coat on seams and second over everything. Don't spray onto anything that generates or conducts heat.

If the parts that you're mentioning don't need to match the exterior you can use Zero Rust to paint them. Zero Rust contains no isos so it's great for spraying in close quarters like engine compartments and interior floors. ZR holds up great under the vehicle plus it is easy to touch up if needed. We keep a lot of several different colors and use it on the undersides, insides and compartments of almost every car where these areas doesn't need to match the exterior color. In most cases we use black but this semi-gloss paint comes in several different colors which adds to it's popularity. Check it out on the link below.

Thanks for the replies. I'm familiar with ZR and will have some uses but I may not be asking by question right. I'm planning on putting the cars on a rotisserie to work on the bottom of the pan, wheel wells, engine compartment, etc. These area do need to be the same color as the body, one is black and the other bahia red. I just couldn't get it clear in my head that you would clear coat these area and thought it might be better to use a color matched single stage?
