Orange peel...

So I've noticed something over the past few weeks. EVERY factory finish on almost every vehicle I've seen has a fair amount of orange peel when viewed in full light. So when you guys on here are complaining about orange peel, are you getting worse than that?

to avoid orange peel

1. use correct air setting no more no less
2. recduced your paint correctly
3. keep the correct distance between your gun and surface of the car
4. use correct nozzle size 1.3 or 1.4

I dont complain about peel. The orange peel I get matches factory orange peel pretty close. If I'm repairing and matching OEM finishes, all I do is a light wetsand for dust nibing and polish.

Orange Peel, or its variant Lemon Peel is not Acceptable to me.

If the finish has got it, then I dont want it.

yousiff, I think weather conditions can cause orange peel too. To early though for me to think straight. I think orange peel that matches factory is ok but when it's your car and it's a car that you've put considerable time into, are doing a complete paint job, than orange peel can be bothersome.

I like a little peel meyself. I think a paint job that shows a slight consitent texture and is clean looks more natural and show's the skill of the painter.

I have a 1.3 mm tip for base/clear and a 1.5 for primer. So I think I'm ok there. I just found it interesting that factory finishes have orange peel too. My nissan looks just a hair worse in the right light than some of the 07's in the lot. Couldn't tell from a distance or if you weren't looking for it though.

i remember the year the new hummer came out(the h3) and i was at carlisle and saw one. i think my very first paintjob that i sprayed with a clogged vent hole had less orange peel than that thing

because the panels are pretty flat. Jeep wranglers are bad too

A lot of trucks are pretty bad.
Of course orange peel helps to hide factory defects, so
maybe it's to the company's advantage to have it.:cool:
