    Hi everyone..

Again, thanks for all your good advice.

This post should allow me to finish up my 71 240Z over the next few months and ready for summer cruising.

I've used Nason epoxy, and I plan on using Nason primer-surfacer. I've started each panel from bare metal, and I want a ss topcoat.

After reading many posts, I'm now a little confused on what my best options are to finish off the project. Should I:

1- Use Nason sealer and ss Urathane 2k topcoat.
2- Use Nason sealer and Dupont Chroma ss topcoat.
3- Not use any sealer and use Nason 2k urathane topcoat.
4- Not use any sealer and use Dupont Chroma.
5- Use Dupont sealer (which one?) and Dupont Chroma.

What would you do? Any advice would be great.

Lose the sealer and just seal it with a couple lightly reduced coats of epoxy primer (brand of your choice).

If the color coat you have picked out for your car is a metallic I suggest staying away from single stage urethane paint. If its a solid color non metallic then just about any brand of decent paint will work fine. There is really not much difference between different brands of paint. Some subtle differences will be noticed during application through gaining considerable experience spraying each individual brand of paint. But nothing will stand out to an inexperienced painter. Thats not meant as a cut to you or other people with limited experience painting, just a statement of fact. Pick a brand that is supported well locally by people who can answer your questions effectively and you can't go wrong.

    Phil,

If I use the epoxy as a sealer, can I simply sand the epoxy with 600 gritt if I have no choice to let it dry before applying topcoat?

Don't put your epoxy sealer on until you're ready to paint. Treat it as if it was your first coat of base. If you let it go outside of it's recoat window you will have to scuff and if you want the benefit of the epoxy's chemical adhesion you will have to scuff and re-apply epoxy before putting your base on.

If you're new to painting I would strongly urge you to follow Phil's advice about using a 2 stage (BC/CC), even if yours is a non metalic solid color. So much easier to apply and very forgiving when it comes time to fix your mistakes. Also, as a novice I would recommend using a catalized base for the ease of repair.
