    Default Chop A Top

Any body got a clue as to what it would cost to have a 57 chev 2dr post
top chopped 4 inches. Would like to take this project on myself, but I'm
like the mosquito in a nudiest colony. I know what to do, just don't know
    where to start.

Just my own opinion ,but if I were you I would not chop the top on that car . 1. that body style does not look good chopped. 2. the glass can tend to be a real issue on that car.

Whether or not a chopped 57 Chevy looks good is a matter of taste and opinion . My opinion it will look much better than stock . But what will it do to resale value if you ever decide to sell it ,is another question.

But it is a big undertaking and would suggest you have a good shop do it.

It isn't cheap to have done and i wouldn't attempt it on a 57 if you have
never chopped a top before. but it can be done easy if you know how.
trick is to know where to measure down to take the 3-4 inches out
of the middle of the pillars and not change the geometry too much that
when you have the glass cut it still fits good. you may have to take some metal out of the middle of the roof also. which thats where the talent comes in.
Make sure you have a glass guy that can do the glasswork before you ever chop a top cause your average glass companies can't all do it. it takes a specialist who knows how to cut glass for chopped tops.Straight glass is easy but the curved glass can be a pain if its not done right.
