I would like to ask the pro's here if the EPA had not stuck it's nose into the body and paint business which product would you be using today if you had the choice, this 2k stuff or the old laq or enamil?

I wouldn't change a thing. I think paint products are better now than years ago. Urethane is the way to go IMO
The EPA is not driving that technology. The simple evolution of Nitro, to acrylic lacquer, to enamel to catalyzed enamel, to urethane is a result of good old competition & the goal of providing a durable, quality finish. You can still purchase lacquer & acrylic enamel, but why would you want to when you can buy modern urethanes? Kind of like buying a 1960's Hi-Fi vs. todays digital stereo systems.
i like lacquer because of how easy it is to do for spraying small parts, i much rather prefer using catalyzed paints for actual refinishing. and a lot of paint companies are slowly getting rid of their lacquer lines, i know dupont lacquer is getting hard to get....
As a novice I thought I would ask the question as I am in the restoring cars mode and the bc/cc does not work as it looks weird some how, I did paint my Met with Urathane and the finish appears good thank you for the replies and have a safe start on 2007.
