Thread: Quality Disposable Dust Masks

    Default Quality Disposable Dust Masks

As I get older I'm finding out I am more sensitive to dust while grinding and sanding. The dust from cut-off wheels is the WORST. I have tried different wheel manufacturers and a couple of different style throw away masks (including 3M) with very little difference.

Anybody recommend some better alternatives for a hobbiest??

These may be a bit overkill, but if your looking for something confortable that is very safe and has a very high filtration rate...this is probably your best bet.
I believe theyre a little pricy but they last a while.

The ones pane2k gave you a link to work pretty good. When I have a lot of grinding glass or body filler to do I usually wear the half mask respirator #6300 with the bodymans filters the numbers for them are either 2097 or p100. They are big pink dust filters. No good for vapors but they keep the fiberglass dust out of my lungs.

Thanks for the help! I found some of the "professional grade" 3M disposables today at a local supplier, so far they are working much better.

Said they filter out 95% of particulate matter and are $2.50 each

I find the 3M half masks with the pink filters more comfortable than the disposable type. They also seal much better around my nose. Price is not too bad -- about $20 -- and comes with an extra set of filters. If you wash the mask occasionally with soap and water it will last for about a year of daily use.

    Default 3M Masks

I recently added a couple different type of masks to the store. Check them out at the link below but go to the bottom of the page to see the new additions.
