    Default Upol #5

Len, I see that you use the upol5 primer. Is it a lacquer based primer? I've heard that it is comparable to a 2k. What are some of its characteristics ie. drying time, sandability, filling, hold out, does it tend to pinhole? I have use the SEM highbuild in a can and it pinholed everytime.

U-pol High #5 is a great product. Will not pinhole that I have seen and covers and fills very fast. It is alot like a 2k primer in coverage and filling. Sanding is very nice, like butter. It will flash off pretty quick after application.

U-Pol is a one part product that I've only used once, it's a convienent aerosol but still only a one part product. I didn't have any problem with pin holing, the thing I worry about with one part products is that most shrink back later and don't bond as well with the surface as good two part products.

As far as drying time goes it will depend on how you apply it and the temperature of the room at the time. I'd say that a moderate application at 70 degrees would probably take about a half hour to dry. As with most primer products you want to apply several wet coats allowing decent flash time between coats.
