Default and I phone the paint manufacturer..... not happy

    the on going sauga.....

I phoned CIL paints and told them my problem....
they seem to think the sealer from duplicolor is at fault, well sort of.
seems that the paint is oil based and likely it couldn't bond with the primer.
I e-mailed duplicolor and I will see what they say.... I am thinking they will likely blame the paint.

anyway, if the duplicolor primer sealer is only meant for curtaiin paints, why isn't it written somewhere on the can or website?

If the paint is not compatable with the primer, then why does the paint manufacturer not say this anywhere?

I am so dissapointed....all that work, money I could barely afford, winter coming and no garage to work in.....more scraping, sanding, spot puddy, painting.

I will let everyone know what duplicolor says.....I asked them for my money back but I think that is a long shot

would anyone else be peeved like me?

    any thoughts?

    thanks

    cheers

    Randy,

It seems to me that you took your time and did everything you could to make the job come out right. You're the kind of customer they should be glad to have and be willing to take care of. That said, they're likely idiots so all I can really say is I'm sorry to see you having to go through this mess.

If you need a bunch of us to call them and try to get them to do right by you I'd be happy to lend a hand - I have a pitch fork, some burning torches, etc. We could make a party out of it.

    Good Luck,
    Robert

PS, The image of a bunch of guys storming a paint store like in the Frankenstien movies was too much to pass up.

Duplicolor is a Sherwin company...? Hmmm...they will just play pingpong with you blaming each other...Too bad you wasted your money on those products...

    What happened?

If you use products from different manufacturers you must realize that they are not necessarilly engineered or endorsed to be used together and you don't really have a leg to stand on. If you use products from ONE manufacturer your argument has more weight. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for primers, sealers and top coats and your efforts are more likely to be rewarded.
