Thread: Recommendation on primer for my truck?

  1. #1

Default Recommendation on primer for my truck?

I'm going to repaint my 96 Dodge Ram, one of those with the crappy ain't jobs. I don't have a lot of dings and dents, but am overwhelmed by the number of fillers out there. Looking for info on what to use?

Also should I put expoxy primer under the filler or just over. Or both?

    Thanks for any input.

    Bob

I find z- grip filler works well for me. Just stay away from first in line filler....big debate on when to epoxy. It will work under or over...make sure to read manufacturers recommendations on recoat times

Evercoat Z-grip is a good economical priced polyester filler. I used it often for the bulk of filling operations then finish the repairs off with premium filler like Rage Extreme. It costs about 3 times as much as Z-grip but finishes off repairs with no pinholes and sands much better. I also quit using polyester spot putty when I use a high end premium filler like Rage Extreme.
