    Default painting engine block

    Ive got a qt of dupont basemaker b/c and a qt of chroma clear.the engine block is clean and not primed can i shoot the b/c over the bare cast iron block or will i have to primer? Can i use rattle can primer? Thanks mikey

    You'll need a good foundation so it does'nt flake off, so use a good epoxy primer then apply paint within the application window the epoxy allows.......best of luck

    You should prime first but rattle can primer isn't a good choice if you want it to last. You should purchase a good epoxy primer and activator, clean the block with grease and wax remover then prime. If you use a good epoxy primer you can paint it within the recoat window and not need to sand between priming and painting.

    If you don't have a spray gun you could mix the primer and activator then put it into a Preval Sprayer to prime the block.
