I would blast it. Its a mess but it doesn't look like yours is too bad.

I got the same problem with the rust in and around the under part of my hood.
You say blast it ?
What do I use? Walnut, glass, etc.

I'm just getting into S/Blasting. Haven't used my unit YET.
Any and all suggestions doing it the right way will be greatly appreciated.

Scuff it to remove the lose rust then spray or brush on some Picklex 20 and work it in with a scuff pad then wipe off the excess and allow it to dry then epoxy prime it.
