Plus gun set-up questions

Just bought a Plus gun and i am not sure where to begin with set-up. i am used to conventional guns with 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8mm tips. What is a good starting point for BC/CC and AE? i am not sure what tip(s) or air pressure to start spraying with. Most of my jobs are overall and color changes on larger older cars.

Also, i noticed that alot of tech sheets don't list the specs for set-up on the Plus gun so i didn't know if some of the pros on this site could offer me a good staring point.

Will i need to change my spraying technique, slower, faster, etc.?

I use nason, Limco, Centari, Chromabase, etc, usually whtever the customer can afford.

I start spraying with a new gun the same way almost every time. Open the fan fully then narrow it just slightly, turn out the needle adjusting knob until the trigger is against the handle then turn it in until the trigger just lifts off the handle slightly. Attach an air hose to the gun with about 60 or 70 PSI coming from your wall regulator then squeeze the trigger and adjust the inlet pressure to the gun manufacturer's recommended setting. In the case of the Plus gun the inlet pressure should read 30 PSI.

This is a reduced pressure gun so it's a little easier to control than the old conventionals but it's a higher pressure than HVLP so it atomizes better. Your technique will be about the same as you're accustom to with your old conventional but the result should be better. Your spraying speed and distance should be determined by the texture of the paint on the surface as you spray. Adjust your speed and distance according to what you see while spraying but it should be about the same as your conventional gun.

I would probably use the 1.3 or 1.4 for the products you're spraying. In most cases I'm a 1.4 user.

That gun is set up to easily use cup liners if you want. These are great for spraying at extreme angles because the gun won't sputter or spill paint. We will be using liners tomorrow to spray Zero Rust on the underside of a car we are restoring.
