Thread: gas power compressors

    Default gas power compressors

    Iam just getting in to painting cars , i am looking at a HILTI EMGLO gas powered air compressor rated at 20 cfm with a 30 gal tank, 11 hp honda motor. will this get the job done.

    Default That should do it.

    Even if you use a 15 CFM @ 30 PSI spray gun you should have plenty of air and pressure to get the job done.

    yeah: thanks len just worried about constant pressure and flucations. I don't want to be in the middle of making a pass and have it start spitting and sputtering. and what about it overheating while doing the body work?

    Most gas powered compressors are built so that the motor runs all the time and the pump comes on and goes off as needed. If it's a decent unit you should have no problems running it all day long as long as the noise won't be a problem.

    Sounds like a good unit. You just need to keep it way away from the paint room ( exhaust fumes may leave smokey trails on new paint) and just keep in mind the lethal cabon monoxide fumes. And, always top out the fuel tank before started a major spraying session. jmo
