Any word on replacement panels from Mill Supply Inc

I have decided the best thing I can do for the doors on my project car is get some new sheet metal (lower skin) and maybe the inside lower as well.

Came across Miller Supply Inc and was wondering if anyone has gotten anything from them and if so what was the quality of the part (did it fit).

I get repair panels from them from time to time. They are about the same as other sources of inexpensive Asian sheetmetal... it's usually not a perfect fit but it's good enough to get the job done. They have a decent catalog that is a handy reference guide, ask them to put one in your order.

Thanks for the info Len. I was on thier site looking at the GM Catalog for rust repair last night. Am wondering though, they are out of Ohio and say they stamp the panels there. Why do they get the sheet metal from Asia?

Another question, the lower skin of my doors have rivets and mounting holes for the door trim. Do they make panels like that or will I have to use a template from the old skin to put new one's in.

To tell you the truth I just took it for granted that they were foreign made because they appear to be the same panels that everyone else sells. They look the same, they fit the same, they are primed the same, they rust the same etc. etc.

I don't know about the construction of the door panels you're referring to but I doubt that the aftermarket "repair" panels would be exactly the same. You may be able to purchase an aftermarket door that would be closer to original. You could also check the availability of used parts because you know they would be the same.

I see your point Len about the way the panels are manufactuered.

Some GM cars from the early to mid 80's have chrome trim running along the bottom of the doors, rockers, rear lower edge of front fender and, front lower edge of the quarter panel.

These are held on by plastic mounting strips (in the case of the doors) which hook into the rivets I was talking about. At each end of the door (bottom) there is a small screw hole.

I'll ask before I buy 'em but I'm thinking your right and I'll have to make a template from the existing piece to transfer over. One has to measure exact otherwise the trim will interfere with the opening and closing of the doors.

I have used Mill supply before for chevy truck floors. They were made in usa.
They came Galvanized instead of powder coated and were a liitle more better than others from TW in my opinion. They install the same and really aren't much difference. They cost a little more,
