Default Should I take this to the dealer for paint failure?

So I noticed this a few weeks ago. I've been trying to think of how this could happen as I'm the only one that has ever washed this car and I know it wasn't by my hand. This is on the top near the windshield and it also runs along the sides of the top as well as on top of the doors. It looks to me like the clearcoat is cracking. Anyone ever seen this? The windshield was replaced a few months ago and I thought maybe they did it but it seems very unlikely that they would have done it above the windshield, all the way down the tops of the doors and on the sides of the top all the way back to the back glass.

If it was purchased from your dealer I'd say take it back and see what they say. If it was purchased somewhere else a dealer probably won't cover it because it looks like a cheap repaint job and only the seller may take responsibility for it.

Also, did you buy the car NEW or USED. If it was a used car I think you're on your own but if it was purchased new you may have a valid complaint.

I bought it brand new with 113 miles on it. Nissan has 5 year warranty on paint.

I would take it back immediately, if you wait any longer you could find that they will say it's out of the warranty period. Take it back to the dealer you bought it from.

And if the dealer gives you the run-around, tell them your next stop will be manufacturer. Dealerships love that. Sometimes you have to spank them to get their attention.

I don't live around the dealer where I bought the car anymore so I will try the local one first. Either way whatever dealer has to fix the problem gets paid by the manufacturer so I don't see where it should make that much of a difference other than them just not wanting to deal with it. I noticed a few spots on the hood that are doing the same thing as well.

Have a feeling I will have a time with this one. This is listed in the manual:

The items listed below are not covered under corrosion
    coverage (perforation from corrosion).

"Corrosion other than perforation, such as cosmetic or surface corrosion due to defects in materials or workmanship. This is covered under the Basic
Coverage of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty."

If they don't fix this I'm guessing it will need to be taken down to the beasecoat or metal to fix this properly correct?

Look at the "Date of Manufacturer" on the tag in the driver's door jamb. They may use that date to determine whether or not to pay for a paint job and not the date of the sale.

It had a 113 miles on it, that wasn't a "New" car! Something is odd, and that isn't original paint failure like I have ever seen, it looks like lacquer check! It has been repaired, it isn't original paint at least not where it has failed.

But this doesn't mean they won't fix it. Go see them and put up a fight.

Date of manufacture was 4/08 and I bought it 07/08. People test drive vehicles and I drove it to work and back so that was the actual mileage of purchase. I called the dealership and they said paint warranty covers 3 years 36,000 miles

So you're out of the warranty period. You know I'd be pissed about that. MARTINSR is right that is NOT a factory paint job, it was painted using cheap materials by the dealer and they should pay to have it repainted.
