So my latest project is basically a color change. In the past if the paint was decent, I just wet sanded or scuffed the clear, put base then clear and it looked good. Wondering if Im going about this right? Should there be another step in between? A sealer or something? This one Im going from red to Dark shadow gray, a metallic dark gray. Thanks for any help. Using Nason products.

Using Nason I think I would consider a gray sealer over the red. I know their bright island blue metallic does not cover red well at all. Took 3-4 coats minimum. Still showed a little in the right light but I was the only one that ever said anything about it. It was my old daily driver.

As far as prep goes just clean it, scuff it, mask it, clean it again and paint it. I use paint that covers well so I rarely use sealer or any mid coat unless I have a mix of substrates that could effect the consistency of the gloss then I may use a sealer to improve the consistency.
