    Default Compressor anti theft?

I have a bel air 60 gal that I paid $700 on here for. I'd hate for it to get stolen. I have clothes dryer pads that it stands on so it won't make noise or weaken the welds.
I'm thinking of getting maybe a bycle security lock for it. Any ideas?

I dont think anyone would be idiot enough to try and steal that compressor. It takes 2 people to load it in a truck, maybe 3 and by that time you would hear a rukus. And really what are they worth stolen??? I'd say that was a pretty stupid theif.

I would put a motion sensitive flood light on it if I was that worried. You could take it a step farther and on one side of the flood light screw in a 110V adapter and run a cord from it inside the building or home hooked to a radio or lamp that comes on when the motion detector is triggered. Just a thought. I haven't done that but thought it out. You could leave both bulbs out of the motion detector and have a silent alarm without the thief even having a clue that you are aware of the situation.

I have a motion detector on my flower garden, when the deer get too close the light comes on and music starts playing. It keeps out my intruders I don't see why it couldn't work for protecting your compressor.

Has anyone on this site ever had any compressor larger then a 12 volt battery one, stolen ?

I don't even have a lock on my shop and at times there are over 400 people here . Nothing has ever been stolen .

But to help .. install a huge chain into the concrete and attach the compressor to it . But don't forget about the car and the project .The shop tools and the family dog .

    Default Compressor theft

Don't think i'd lose to much sleep over this one if someone wants it that bad it's gone be more worried about what they can pick up and run with hand full of air tools worth more than the comp or for that fact classic car parts have mine in the back of my shop never crossed my mind about being stolen..

I have a security system through Pinnacle Security that covers my garage/shop and the house a few feet away. For the shop it covers the large overhead garage door and the walk in door and only one window The two doors and window are covered with motion sensors. I have tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment and tools in my shop so $40 a month for a security system is money well spend for me. (I also have good insurance on my shop and the house in case of fire, storm damage, theft etc). If for some reason the garage/shop alarm is tripped (you can't hear it while you're in the shop) I have a couple minutes to shut the alarm off or it automatically calls the police who are here in a couple minutes. I screwed up a couple times forgetting about the alarm early in the morning and it went off. Within a minutes I get a call from a live person at Pinnacle security and I tell them everything is all right I just screwed up. I manually shut the alarm off with a preprogrammed PIN number and I have to answer a couple security questions with the person at Pinnacle security. Once I forgot about the alarm early in the morning and left in my truck to pick something up. When I get back a few minutes later there is a state police car parked in my driveway. As so as I stopped my truck I tell the officer " I forgot to shut the alarm off didn't I ? I had to go through the sequence with him showing my drivers license proving I'm the owner of the property who lives here. So in short my point is the alarm system DOES work. I'm not too worried about someone breaking into my house at nicht because I had a 9mm pistol and I'm an experienced gun owner. My shop is a different story and without the alarm system I would have no idea if my shop gets broken into at night or when I'm away from my shop during the day. So I think $40 a month is money well spent.
