Default Best way to apply primer for best results

Im repairing and painting a black car in metallic base and want the results to be spot on, i dont want any shrinkage.

Do i finish the repair in 180 - 220 and apply the 2k primer in 3 good coats or
do i finish the repair in 180 - 220 and apply 2 medium coats of 2k primer and sand 220 - 400 and shoot another 2 medium coats, and finish the repair that way?

i usually do the 3 good coats but i want to guarantee no shrinkage!

I usually finish in 180 then buzz over it or block it a few licks with 320. 2-3 coats 2k primer should do it.

If you're using a paint product that has a lot of solvent in it and you apply it wet and don't allow it to flash between coats you could see some shrinkage down the road. Use good primer and paint and allow it to flash between coats and you should be ok.
