Default How bad is the HF Stud Welder?

I need to repair my Wife's car, after I hit it with my truck. I'm on a really tight budget, will will make a repair post about it.

    Thanks.

If you're only going to use it once or twice it may work fine but you could also get a "good" stud welder and sell it when you're finished with it. A good one will be worth at least half of what you paid for it, ebay or Craig's List is a good place to sell these types of used tools but I doubt that a HF tool is worth much.

I have the HF one and the welder itself is not bad but the puller is complete junk.

Agreed. I got one as a gift one time and the welder works just fine, but the puller is crap.

It all depends on which puller you have. We've been using the one pictured below for 15 years and it works great but the one that originally came with the Starter Kit was not good. Unispotter no longer sells that cheaper slide hammer, now the good one comes with all of their kits.

I have that tool and it's worked every time. sometimes the studs have something on the tip and dont weld right. i just put a piece of sand paper on the unit and give the head a light run over it. but thats not every box, only every 3 boxes its like that tool it self works great
