    Default Door edges

While sanding the car, section by section, I have been thinking about how to deal with the door edges. The situation is typical in that there is paint and then spots with no paint. First it needs to be protected long term from the elements. So do I sand along the entire edge of the door to remove the paint and then prime before painting? Clearly isn't a spot for high build primer since edges are so risky to sand and not break through over and over.

Those are some pretty rough edges, I'd sand off the paint and epoxy prime then paint.

Sand it smooth like anywhere else and tape behind the edge. Your primers will cover the edge well just by passing over them. Then just wrap some 400 grit around the edge and hand sand and you shouldn't have any problem sanding through. Re-tape the same way for your top coat and you'll be golden.
