What happened??

Got a little to agressive sanding the clear coat on my trunk and cut thru at the very edge.
Sanded the clear with 600, masked off, shot three coats of base to color where the primer
was showing, moved the masking up 2 inches then three coats off clear. You can see what happened.
The base is from the same can as the original, mixed the same and shot the same. Why the darker band??
Sanded and buffed like the original hoping that would help but no luck. Most of all, how do I fix it??
Any suggestions appreciated.
Please, please don't tell me I have to reshoot the entire trunk.

I can’t tell what I am looking at in the photo but it sounds like you sprayed against your masking. That’s the opposite of blending. Mask the car to keep overspray off but keep the masking a long way from your paint work.
