    It's a wonderful compound used for everything from preserving eggs to fireproofing & cleaning. Just DON'T use it on glass, unless you want frosted glass. It does work well on windshields of customers who don't pay and park on the street.

    Generally available at ceramic shops in small quantity. If you have a chemical supplier in town you can get it there, and government agents probably won't hassle you.

    Franz, can you elaborate on how one would go about using sodium silicate (to deal with dust.. I'm ok with the egg part)
