Default Correct way to prep metal?

First time car restorer. Just got some car parts done being media blasted. I want to spray PPG DP40 epoxy sealer onto the bare metal ASAP. Some of the parts I noticed small areas were there was rust pitting. The metal is still very solid, just pitted. In some of the pits I can still see small traces of rust the media did not remove. Does metal prep neutralize these rust areas prior to painting. What should I do or use.

I would either blast the metal clean with a "Spot Blaster" or use Picklex 20 to treat the metal.
