Thread: So how do you know you're getting what you paid for?

Default So how do you know you're getting what you paid for?

Recently heard of a shop that was labeling and selling bottom to mid grade paint as the top of the line. So how do you know you're getting what you pay for? By the way, that shop is no longer in business. Heard Orielly auto parts now sell Dupont and I doubt that such a big operation would do such a thing. However I like to support the small guy and don't have much experience with Dupont. Need a single stage AU.

If you haven't done business with a particular supplier you may want to ask them how you can tell the difference between cheap and good paint. If you purchase paint in a name brand, prepackaged product is a good way to know what you're getting.

O'reilley carries sherwin williams or dupont depending on your area. Mine carries both within a 10 mile radius.

I use PPG Omni MTK (acrylic urethane ss) on 80%-90% of what I paint and have great luck with it. I know people have their own thoughts and some don't like the omni line, but it has been great for us. That said I've never used any other brand than PPG and don't really plan to, we get great service from the rep in our area and the store is about 1/4 mile away from the shop.

I'll raise a hand for Omni. I've fogged a ton of this stuff. I don't like their black BC but the clears are great.
I've been farting around with Sherwin Williams primers a little bit and I'm finding myself reaching for SW can more these days. I've been impressed with their primers so far.

Our O'Reilly sells PPG pretty exclusively. I guess it depends on the area you live in.
