    Default Another paint question-need help

Ok Len and the other guys,I know your probably tired of the newbie questions but have all my stuff and really not totally understanding a few things..First off the paint guy at Orielys sold me this paint and catalyst. He told me the spec sheet for mixing would call out for a different catalyst but this was the same thing,It would work fine,The paint is Nason Ful-Base Enamel and the hardener catalyst he gave me which he says will work just fine is 483-13..Sheet says to use 483-08??He know what he is talking about?
Next question is on the paint can it says Sealer:required..Is this the hardener they are talking about??or am I missing something?
Next question is it says on the can the pressure for HVLP guns..I bought a new GFG-670 plus gun from Len but doesn't say it is HVLP.What pressure do I want to run on it?
Last question is I know your better off having a positive air respirator but cant afford one for just one paint job.Can I get by with a cartridge respirator?
I have searched all night for all this info before making this post and cant find anything I understand. Here are pics of what I got. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

First off let me say I know nothing what so ever about Nason, only used it a couple of times, years ago. But just at face value,I don't like using different products than what is in the tech sheet, PERIOD. You want less problems, follow the tech sheet to a T, PERIOD.

That being said, I found this tech sheet for Nason clear, http://pc.dupont.com/dpc/en/US/html/...son/419-00.pdf where both these hardeners are used in the same clear. So it "seems" they are sort of interchangeable. That's the good news, the bad news is when one is used you reduce the clear, when the other is used you don't! That is a damn big difference if you ask me. So what are you going to do, use the Gloss-E hardener and reduce it the same as with the Kwik-Kure? They didn't in the clear FOR A REASON, so what are you suppose to do now, reduce it, don't reduce it?

I say you use the exact product that the tech sheet (or label on the can) says and you follow everything on that tech sheet.

What clear? He bought what apprears to be AE.

I told him to originally go with 2nd Dimension SW AE. But he did get a good deal on a gallon. Henry

A well fitting cartridge mask will work ok with that paint, just be sure that you open the cartridges right before you start spraying because most cartridges need to be replaced after about eight hours.

Sealer is applied to the surface before the paint so that the paint will have a consistent color to cover and have less tendency to be absorbed into substrate.

The clear tech sheet is just where I happened to find the hardeners in use. I didn't look any further.

Think this why the guy at orielys told me to spray it without reducing??He said to not reduce it unless it gives me trouble spraying.

I called Dupont and talked to the paint guy there..He advised me to take the 483-13 reducer back and get the right stuff..He couldnt say if it would be fine or not cause there is nothing on any spec sheets saying it will work.He said it may spray fine but who knows down the road what will happen..So I am going to exchange it.

Yep, not following the tech sheets is the best way to get into trouble. When I was a paint rep we called them "Junior Chemists".
