Default epoxy primer recoat window help

I bought a can of Nason ful-poxy 491-16 epoxy primer..The last epoxy primer I used was ppg dp40lf and it have a recoat window of 7 days with out sanding.I cant find any information on this Nason of what the recoat window is? Says can be top coated within 24 hours with out sanding. Am I right that I only have 24 hours to top coat??

That's right, 24 hours. We apply our sealer/primer then our top coat all in one spraying session with about an hour or two in between primer and color. This helps eliminate dust problems that can happen with longer delays and I know I'll have a good bond between primer and color. There is a downside to applying your color too quickly, it could cause some die-back (dulling) if the primer was too wet when color was applied but if you plan on polishing then a little die-back isn't a problem.

Thanks,Then I guess I better wait till the weekend to spray. The guy that mixed the paint said it looked a little transparent so it may take allot of coats.

Spray it with a primer or sealer that is close in color or shade so that the paint coverage isn't so critical. Without a good base you could blow through a gallon of poorly covering paint and still not have it covered properly. A decent HVLP spray gun could help put more of the paint on the surface and less paint in the air.

Yes, that primer may be ok. The problems usually arise from spraying over multicolored surface, if you have the applied primer over the entire car you should be ok.
