    Default colour match question

    HI

I've just finished a bumper cover for a Honda Odyssey, OEM paint is desert rock metallic, a sort of champagne-gold look. Anyway, I used Omni bc and it covered the primed bumper well. The thing is, the colour looks more black, as in there's more black metallic part than the rest of the van. I know my supplier mixed the paint right and the owner is ok with how it looks but I just wonder about why. Old vs new paint? Are there differences between factory paint and when the "same" paint is mixed by formula? I know that Omni doesn't always cover as well but I put 3 coats on the bumper. The difference between coat 2 and 3 was not evident so I know I got enough paint on, and it was consistent. The clear equally looked great, only 1 run and on a really run prone section.

I'd like to hear what others think or if I should alter what I've done. I don't have photos, tho could get them if necessary.

Did your sprayout match? Was the paint shaken in a mixer? what Omni base did you use exactly MBP,MPX,MLX,MAE. Ect.........
what color primer or sealer did you use ? To tell you the truth I have never used omni base ever can't say I have heard good stories about it either tho.

the mixer question is because of the pearl used in the mix if not mixed evenly the pearl will not be completely be mixed in and may have an effect on the paint color same goes for colors with alot of metallic toner in it the flake settles on the bottom of the can. rule is to shake a formula for 10-15min after mixing. and before spraying.

You may know this already and still had this problem the next thing is how you sprayed it and the settings on the gun.

the last thing is from factory it was sprayed with waterbase paint and you repaired it with a low grade solventbase paint.
