Default can i plumb the hobbyair system in PVC

    hello all,

i was recommend to this site (autobodystore.com) by two members on hotrodders.com.

i am ready to purchase a hobbyair II with full hood option (axis?) system from this site - but want to know the following:

can i locate the hobbyair system in my basement - then use PVC pipe to connect the hobbyair unit to my paint booth in my garage. then inside my paint booth i would connect the flexible hose that came with the hobbyiar system to the PVC.

the run length for the PVC tubing would be approximately 33 feet (from the hobbyair unit in the basement to the connector in the paint booth)

    thank you for any advice,
    mark

    Hi Mark
The Hobbyair II pushes a lot of air through the hose and this causes the first couple of feet of hose (pipe) to get pretty hot. I've never piped it through PVC but if I were going to do this I would probably make the first 5 feet of pipe metal then convert to PVC although the PVC may take the heat fine. Also when the PVC is heated it may "off-gas" some chemicals in the pipe and you may not want to breath those chemicals. Other than that I don't see any reason not to use PVC.
