1968 dodge charger
I am new to the whole painting and prep process, so what I have is a 68 charger that has some surface rust and some rust that has eaten thru a few panels. What I would like to do is prep the car for a primer that can hold up and fight against any future rust, the car will be in a garage until I get it where I want and have time to replace panels. So my question is how to i prep it for primer, what primer should I use and should I seal the primer with something???
The best prep would be to strip off the old paint then apply a coat of a "good" epoxy primer. Usually a brand name like DuPont, PPG, Glasurit, Diamont etc. would be good names for primer to use. Two good coats of epoxy primer will protect the surface well until you're ready to continue.
