Hole in panel VAN
Someone put windows in the sides of this VAN.
And Mark wanted them plugged.
So I got-um pluged up for him.
You know their is more time filling and sanding than prep and gluing the patch panels in place.
#1 Taking out the windows.
#2. Cutting patch panels and temporary in stalling them.
More of Marks Van.
3rd Video fitting the panels.
making a mark on the panel for the flange. and cleaning the dried window caulk off with wire wheel.
4th. more prep on the van.
#5. Making the patch panels.
#6. welding up screw holes.
#7 .Grinding down the welds and then sanding them smooth.
#8. More grinding, patch panel prep, and van prep.
#9 gluing panel in place
#10. Sorry, I lost it in cyber space???
#11. putting bevel into screw holes to hold fiber glass, and cleaning the adhesive out of the seam
going to watch these after work - thanks for doing these for us all - sorry you don't get more comments.
Watched a couple of the videos. Interesting. 2 questions, what is your shop rate and what are you charging to put that hole in prime.
Hi Stephen4444, thanks for the nice words.
Hi Another2centsworth, Just helping a Vanning friend.
Putting the fiber glass past on.
#13. puttng the fiber glass past on.
GOT PUTTY ON
#14. 2nd coat or fiber glass. Len, the rotary sander is great for flatting the fiber glass.
Then the 3" sander for more prep for putting, then the first cost for putty. Later see how I mix my Rage Gold. Don't know why the end od the video blacked out.
#15. ? gone.
#16. Sanding with long block using 80 grit, this maybe the 3rd or 4th coat of putty.
Then the 3M Guide coat to see the flaws I missed.
Excellent videos, I just watched the series so far. They are very informative for a novice body worker. Thanks for posting them, John
#17. Masking, Sanding,
#18. More sanding with long board and finding low spots.
#19. last one. Thanks for watching.
Looks like you are very meticulous and deliberate. Cant' say I would be as patient as you!
Very nice work though!
Finally completed watching them - I learn't a lot - saw you were using SPI Epoxy - good stuff isn't it ?
Q: so because you flanged the patch panel - that is why you did not need so much filler to level patch to existing van side ?
How deep was the flange - i tried the Harbor Freight flange tool and it seemed like the metal was still lower than the surrounding area ? - am I missing something ?
I enjoyed watching the videos - hope you will post some more please !
