    Default WD40 splatter

I just finished filling and sanding my engine bay a few days ago.. now today I open my garage and find that a can of WD40 fell off of the shelf and splattered a few hundred drops onto bare filler.... can this be fixed or do I have to start over and remove all of the filler ? I tried some reducer on a rag and it removed the "wet" spots but I know WD40 is not paintable!

Can you grind out the biggest wet spots with a Roloc Disk and replace that filler? How much time and filler have you put into this so far? How visible is the area going to be when the project is done? If it is a minor area that isn’t very visible I might spray a few coats of 2k surfacer over the small oil spots and take my chances with it holding. If this is a large area on a custom show car then by all means remove all the bad stuff.

I doubt that there is anything you can do to fix the problem other than removing the filler. I don't even allow these types of products to be used inside the shop where the overspray can land on surfaces that need paint. Filler is very absorbent and liquids can get into the surface where you can't get them out. I would probably remove the filler.

at this point it is going to make sense to just remove all of the filler and start over.. I would hate to paint and find out that I didn't get all of it clean or the cleaning didn't work..

    thanks for assuring .
