    Default Recommend DTM primer

Hi folks, Im looking for a good epoxy DTM primer to paint a complete tractor.I have used PPG in the past but it tends to really clog up the paper.Im looking for something easy to sand with some filling properties that wont break the bank. Thanks for any replies.

I don’t know if there is a good answer for your question. I am one that doesn’t like epoxy so in a situation like yours I put on a coat of etch primer and then a coat of Feather Fill G2. It has excellent filling properties and sands well. I used that combination on my trailer and liked the results. I just sprayed single stage on top of the Feather Fill and it has held up well but it’s only been out two winters now so I am still in the test phase of that combination. I would not put base coat on the Feather Fill with out 2k surfacer because it is a little more demanding of a flawless surface but single stage is thicker and went on well. Being it wasn’t a car I wasn’t after that perfect factory finish but it still came out better than I expected.

Why spray something DTM, and then sand the crap so that something else will stick? Do like BobK. follow up wet on wet with a surfacer of some sort

I used epoxy prime from SPI on my cobra build ,good stuff, and, it has a 7 day window, before you have to sand and re-shoot.It is a heck of a lot cheaper than ppg as well.Cheers. rob.
