Thread: a couple of gun questions

Default a couple of gun questions

I finally got my compressor set up to where i'd like to start painting. I was thinking about buying 3 guns for each stage but honestly can't justify the expense. So my first question is how long/hard is it to clean your gun thoroughly after spraying your basecoat to set it up for your clear?

My second question is: I was originally going to buy a finishline 3 for primer and a 670g for base and clear but I can pick up a 2 gun finishline kit with 4 nozzles for $115 cheaper. What is your opinion on this setup for someone that might do 3-5 projects a year? Is the extra money worth that much more?

    Thanks!

The Finishline 3 HVLP won't apply your top coats as smoothly as the Plus but it's an excellent primer gun and if you don't mind more orange peel it will spray your top coats.

Well, I think i'd rather not have to deal with a lot more color sanding in order to try to save 100 bucks. I think i'll save up a little bit longer for the plus gun. Thanks again guys!

How long does it normally take to clean and set the gun up for clear after shooting base?

When I use the same gun for both base and clear I just rinse it out with thinner and fill it with clear and start spraying. Now this is because the products that I use don't react with each other, it may be different with you paint products and you may need to clean it with brushes.
