    Default Water in compressor oil

Hi folks, I bought a used Kellog American compressor about 6 months ago and have not used it very much.I changed the oil and put 30wt. non det in it.The oil now looks milkey in the sight glass. What causes this? Is it normal? We run rotary vane air compressors where I work and use synthetic oil.Would it be ok to used this oil in my compressor?

    Thanks,Glenn

This is an odd one. I have heard of oil in the air supply but never water in the oil of an air compressor pump. You absolutely could use a full synthetic oil in your Kellogg, just call a kellogg authorized repair place and ask them what type and weight synthetic they suggest you use.

I would say synthetic oil in your air compressor is the only way to go,As far as the water in oil I would say its caused by leaky piston rings. Mike

I was thinking that if your rings were not broken in then this could happen.
