Default Sprayed color on my '70 Riviera Saturday.

First off, I'd like to thank this board for answering many of my questions as I made my way from sanding the original finish, block sanding the primer, and spraying the color.

Turned out darn good if I may say so myself, considering I used a $50.00 Harbor Freight gun and a 20 gallon compressor.
I have a couple of runs, and some light orange peel in a couple of small areas, but nothing some color sanding won't cure.
The paint was Sherwin Williams 3rd Dimension 5.0 single stage.
I don't have experience with other paints to compare to, but I thought it covered really well for a value line paint.

Here are some pics starting with the 1st primer coat I did a year ago.
(I know, newspaper. I only used it for the primer coats.)

    And what I did Saturday.

    Thumbs up Nice job....

Oh the memories in those cars...A friend of mine had one and we did everything in that car...including taking it airborne, believe it or not, if flies very well...(you are probably better not to try ... take my word for it...)

Its a great feeling when its done...again, nice job...
    My 2 cents worth...

What? Is it because I didn't use a $700.00 gun and a compressor the size of a locomotive?

Don't be so sensitive these forums are a funny thing, you never know what is going to happen.

Looks great, I love seeing what guys can do in their garage. With good prep work it is possible to get results better than you would get from some shops and the satisfaction that you did it yourself.

    Love those riviera's.
The paint looks really nice as well.
Have you got all the bling back on this beauty?
Love to see the final pics on the car.

Oh, and I just read this and I had to post

It can be quite difficult to produce good work using inexpensive materials and equipment but it looks like you pulled it off. I wouldn't try that with a metallic color but it looks like you did fine with that color. Good job.

great work man! I gotta admit, I love it when guys do it themselves in their garage. I admire pics of seeing newspaper masked over the windshield. There's a lot of guys that would frown upon that but it adds character and I'm sure there was plenty of ruts you got into but that's the beauty of it all. You set out to do a task that I wouldn't dare do if I didn't do it for a living and now look at ya...you got a sweet car that's a symbol of all your hard work!

The problem with newspaper is that it can get soaked through and allow paint to get under it or allow the paper to get glued to the glass or whatever is under it. Putting on a double or triple layer of newspaper is usually advisable if you're not using real masking paper or plastic.
