Thread: Turbine sprayer question

    Default Turbine sprayer question

Len, this question is directed to you since you sale turbines, my question is how are these for for base claer, i know it creates heat, so would a longer hose do any good to keep it cooler, also, how do you regulate the pressure?, my compressor keeps giving out on me so im thinking bout getting one of these just for paint work

I didn't find heat to be a problem, use a slower reducer. If you use a longer hose you will lessen the amount and pressure of the air coming from the hose and hurt the atomization of the paint. If you're spraying a fence then the equipment isn't real important but when spraying a car with a turbine the CFM and PSI of the air is critical to achieve a good result. I highly recommend the 3 or 4 stage turbine and the AccuSpray series 10 gravity feed spray gun.

ok, sounds good, but I guess my real question is how do you atomize the paint, Ok for instance on a compressor say i spray my base at 30 psi, then my clear at 35 psi, how do I do this on a turbine, or is the tuning done at the gun, this is what I dont understand.

Good spray guns (turbine or high pressure) are engineered to be used at a certain PSI, when you vary from that you will be outside the design spec. If you are spraying different viscosity materials you should change the fluid tip to compensate for the different materials. I mostly use Dura-Block, DeVilbiss and Sata spray guns and rarely change the pressure when going from one material to another however I will change fluid tips from time to time. The same goes for turbine sprayers, change the fluid tip if you're spraying materials with different viscosities.

ok, thanks for the replys, one last question, I found this turbine, its a axis 3 stage, with a accuspray

then i found this one from tptools, its a 2 stage bout hundred dollars less than the axis, what do you think is better? Im just trying to decide before I make my decision
