DVLP40 with a 1.4 tip

I purchased an Astro LVLP with a 1.4 tip from Len with the idea that the single tip would serve for my first paint job.

Looking at the Data sheet for DVLP40 epoxy primer it recommends a 1.6-1.4 tip, but does it need to be reduced to use the 1.4 tip? The data sheet doesn't seem to indicate this, but from some of the reading I've been doing here it doesn't seem like anyone is priming with a 1.4 tip.

With the caveat that I don't use that particular product, most epoxies are not intended to build up the surface and as such are not that thick. I shoot epoxy with a 1.5 in an old Porter Cable HVLP and it works fine without thinning. 2K urethanes, the primer most often sprayed on top of the epoxy is where your surface build comes in and is usually quite heavy and won't spray well with a 1.4.
